Coming off the back of a firm 30 mile week it looks like this week is going to be another hard week with only one rest day, two tough interval sessions to build some speed, stamina and strength and a long run on Sunday. I do love the easy short runs though, they feel like a real treat.
Im also looking to the future now, what's coming up and starting to formulate plans.
there is just five weeks to the Stafford Half, and six to the Knighton 20. I'm lucky here to have a physio and coach in Ben Gamble to discuss this with and help form the plans. Because of the two weeks I had off with illness at the end of Jan and the set me back this caused, we decided that while Im running the half, its it shouldn’t distract from my A race of Manchester so there is no tapering that week and its going to be a tough training week with the Stafford half at the end. I don’t have the luxury of taper time.
Im also thinking about race nutrition strategy, equipment and shoes and how to build this into my training. Shoes will either be the ON Cloud Ace or the Cloud Surfer. The ace is slightly heavier but offer a more cushioned ride with more support around the heel and ankle which is weak point for me, but I love the feel of the Cloud Surfer and have built some trust into them now. I'll make a decision over the next few weeks.
