Meet the Team: Peter Jeffers — Owner & Founder

Bikes and running have been part of Peter’s life since his school days, when he competed in cross-country and 1,500 metres. He started Road riding with Wigan Wheelers at 15, took up mountain biking in the 1990s and hasn't stopped since. Over recent years, he has completed several marathons, along with plenty of half marathons and 10Ks.

As director of Cyclist Training Ltd, Peter established and ran Bikeability programmes for councils across Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Cheshire East, Stockport, Milton Keynes and Bolton, helping people build their cycling skills and confidence.

A UK Athletics run leader, Level 3 sports coach, mountain bike leader and instructor, qualified cycle mechanic and Bikeability instructor coach, Peter brings a wealth of practical experience to VeloRunner. He’s also a Mental Health First Aider and also been spotted on the Rock climbing routes around Leek and the Churnet Valley.

In his spare time Peters now happy heading out on to his local trails near home with Kobi his Cocker Spaniel, exploring gravel tracks, heading out on his favourite MTB rides.

Wether helping someone choose their first bike or the right shoe for thier couch to 5K, Peter’s enthusiasm remains the same: helping people get outdoors, build confidence and enjoy being active.

Pop in for a chat about bikes, running or your next adventure.

Meet the Team: Jon Poole — Workshop Team

Jon joins VeloRunner with a passion for cycling, plenty of experience maintaining his own bikes and a practical approach to learning new skills.

A keen cyclist and former runner, he’s also worked on the events team at Glorious Gravel, helping look after riders and seeing what goes into delivering a great day out on the bike.

Jon is now using his vast knowledge of cycling and bike maintenance, and he's joined us in the Velorunner workshop, building on his existing knowledge and developing his skills alongside the team.

Often seen on The Stone and Stafford chaingangs he brings enthusiasm for the sport and an understanding of how much a well-cared-for bike matters to its rider.

We’re pleased to welcome Jon to VeloRunner—say hello next time you’re in the shop.

Meet the Team: Carragher — Apprentice Cycle Mechanic

At just 18, Carragher is turning his passion for cycling into a career here at VeloRunner.

Away from the workshop, he clocks up around 200 Road miles a week, mixing longer outings with shorter rides as he builds his fitness. That time in the saddle gives him valuable experience of how bikes and components perform—and what riders need from them.

One of his standout early projects has been a complete strip-down and rebuild of a deep blue metallic Kinesis Racelight T2 V3. Taking a bike back to its frame, checking the components and carefully rebuilding it is a great way to develop the patience and attention to detail that a good mechanic needs.

Carragher is at the start of his journey, learning alongside the team and putting that enthusiasm to work. We’re pleased to have him on board—and look forward to seeing his skills grow.
