In a rewrite of the famous Peaky Blinders line, Big Beats Big Velorunner, the smallest team in our region cross country took on and beat the big boys, coming out on top after this Saturday's NSCCA race at Stafford Common.
It was a fantastic effort from everyone at VeloRunner Stafford Common, kicked off by the amazing John and Ann, who once again set up the tent, with Dale ready to host our small team of Magenta and blue athletes.
The race was a very exciting event, and every member of the VeloRunner team did us proud. Ann ran a super race for the ladies, but needs a few more friends in the girls' team to make up some numbers. Simon Hodgkinson led from the front, coming in a very strong 10th (estimate). He was followed home by Matt Sharman, James, Jared Horn, Joe Edwards, Rew, Dominic Sacker , Gary Turney and Martin Haines. All of the team put in a really strong performance.
There were some very exciting sprint finishes with Gary passing at least two other runners on the finishing straight, and Martin taking a photo finish on the line despite his opponent diving over the line to try and stop Martin taking him on the line; he failed.
The finish of the race for VeloRunner came from James when he out-sprinted Carl Moulton on the finishing straight with an incredible turn of speed!
Well done all on a great performance! 👏👏
