❄️ Leisure Pace: 10–15 mph 46 Miles Gravel, Lanes & Towpaths

We’re kicking off the new year with a proper winter adventure: the Stockport to Stone Winter Gravel Ride on 14th January. This one’s built for riders who love variety — and don’t mind a bit of mud on their tyres.
Starting from Stockport, we’ll wind our way south through a patchwork of quiet country lanes, old railway lines, and peaceful canal towpaths, following a 46‑mile route that gradually leads us home to Velorunner in Stone. It’s the kind of ride that rewards curiosity and conversation, not watts.
We’ll be rolling at a leisurely pace of 10–15 mph, perfect for riders who want to enjoy the scenery, chat with the group, and soak up the winter atmosphere without any pressure. Expect a mix of crunchy gravel, steady climbs, and those long, flowing sections where the whole group settles into a shared rhythm.
Getting to the start is easy. Direct trains from Stoke-on-Trent to Macclesfield run at:
• 09:21
• 09:56
• 10:09
• 10:19
Plenty of options to get you to the start relaxed, warm, and ready to roll.
By the time we reach Stone, you’ll have earned that post‑ride brew — and maybe a nose around the shop to chat tyres, winter kit, or whatever caught your eye on the trail. It’s a brilliant way to shake off the January chill and start the year with good company and good miles.
